How the Gospel Brings Us All the Way Home by Derek W. H. Thomas
Romans chapter 8 according to Derek Thomas is one of the greatest chapters in the whole Bible. It covers topics such as life in the spirit, walking through suffering, prayer, God’s steadfast love for us.
This book is a great exposition of Romans 8. Derek Thomas walks step-by-step through this chapter exposing God’s great truths for those who follow Him. This walk through reveals the great truth that we not only need the gospel to begin our Christian lives, we need the gospel in every aspect of our life period.
I received this book at a conference in 2012. It has been on my shelf since then. I thought about reading it once or twice in the last four years. This Reading Challenge pushed me to take it down off of my shelf and open it. Now, I am encouraged to read Romans 8 on a regular basis. I need those truths. I need to remember on a daily who I am and whose I am. I need to know with certainty that there is nothing that can separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39).
I encourage you to take some time with Romans 8. Read it, study it, memorize it. If you know Christ, you can walk confidently in the Spirit free from condemnation knowing that God’s love for you in Christ is enough.
